The History of Montegrappa
The story of Montegrappa began in 1912 in Bassano del Grappa, where the Manifattura Pennini Oro per Stilografiche, also known as The Elmo Pen, was established. Over the following decades, the company developed its production of fountain pens, experimenting with different materials and filling systems and establishing itself as an important name in the Italian tradition of fine writing instruments.
Throughout its long history, Montegrappa has produced pens using ebonite, celluloid, metals and modern materials, combining its classic production with luxury writing instruments and collectible editions. After a period under the ownership of the Richemont Group, the company returned to the Aquila family in 2009.
Today, Montegrappa maintains its strong connection with Bassano del Grappa and the Italian manufacturing tradition, combining craftsmanship, design and contemporary production techniques.
